Hello World. We are looking for partners to share our knowledge with. In the month of October we are going to look closely at climate change and how it is affecting California. Towards the end of this month, we will each write opinion pieces for our blog about a climate change topic, such as water shortages, floods, or landslides.

We would love to see how climate change is affecting the part of the world you live in. What problems or benefits are affecting your region? Perhaps, you can explore this topic too and share your opinions. We hope to compare and contrast our opinions with yours.

Please let us know if you’d like to participate by leaving a comment.

About the Author

Hello my name is Karen McKelvey and I am a 3rd grade teacher at Curie Elementary School in San Diego, California. I began teaching at Curie Elementary in 2002. I feel fortunate to be part of such a great community. I love blogging with my students as it provides them with an authentic audience for their work. Collaborative group work and project-based learning are key components of my classroom. I completed my Masters degree in Educational Technology from San Diego State University in 2010. Many of the concepts/pedagogy and technologies I learned about in this program, like learning management systems, Google tools, and blogs are implemented in my classroom. Technology plays a key role in the learning that occurs in our classroom. We don’t learn about technology, we learn with technology. Students are engaged in activities that incorporate writing, research skills, critical and creative thinking skills, and much more on a daily basis.

One climate change that happens all the time is the weather. One day it will be bright and sunny, the next it will be raining cats and dogs.

    Dear Bloggin Frogs,
We are going to check out our climate changes here in Comox, Canada and let you know.
We did have heavy rainstorms last weekend that knocked out some trees. That is unusual for us.
    We will reply back soon,

    Hello Mrs. McKevley’s class,
Our powerlines came down during a wind storm last week. I think it is because the weather is changing here in our town.
